This study-unit shall present a broad overview of museums today and their evolution over the past two centuries. It shall present a contemporary view to the stereotypical understanding of what a museum should be and how this institution relates more to critical, participatory, inclusive and radical museology. It shall then present, discuss and review the bolts and nuts of the museum institution, its function and purpose with a focus on the European Museum Network. The latest trends and developments shall also be presented for discussion via a broad range of case studies.
